If your pet sleeps with you, you’ve likely been searching for the best bedding for yourself and your pet, and the search could end here with Bamboo Sheets! There are many reasons why bamboo sheets are the best pet-friendly choice, and we’ll dive into those so you can learn more about the benefits of sleeping on bamboo bedding.
Bamboo Sheets are Resistant to Bacteria and Odors

One of the top reasons bamboo sheets could be the perfect material of choice is their natural resistance to bacteria and odors. There’s an inherent quality to bamboo called Bamboo Zhukun which is an Asian term for pest-repellent. This term equates to the attribute that bacteria does not grown on bamboo fabrics, which means they'll be more hygienic and stay fresh longer. No matter how often you bathe your pet, if they’re going outside and walking on gravel, asphalt, concrete or grass, they’re picking up dirt and microbes from those surfaces. You don’t get into bed with your dirty shoes on, but your fur-babies do! So having a fabric that repels bacteria, and the odors bacteria creates; you’ll all be sleeping in a much healthier environment.
What Makes Bamboo Bedding Ideal for Pets?

Another ideal benefit of BedVoyage Sheets are that they are all made with a tight twill weave that is incredibly durable, and won't easily tear, pill or fray from pet nails. Many customers have told us stories that attest to this, such as one who's cat ‘climbs’ up the coverlet or duvet cover, yet it has never torn or even made holes in the fabric. Dogs that like to push and prod on the fabric to make their little nest seems to never tear or cause frays to appear. Bamboo fabric is a silky-soft fabric, and incredibly smooth to sleep on, yet it’s also durable and will stand the test of time.
Eco-Friendly Pet Bedding
Discerning shoppers who choose to spend their money on eco-friendly and sustainable items will find bamboo to be a great option. Not only is BedVoyage bamboo farm raised, and naturally rain fed, we call it Panda-friendly as our bamboo is not harvested from forests or natural panda habitats. Due to the Zhukun aspect, there is no need for any pesticides or fertilizers during the growing process, as it grows up to 3 feet a day without any harmful toxins. You and your pet can rest easier knowing you are sleeping on fabric from one of the most sustainable resources on the planet, it’s the ideal pet bedding.
Moisture Wicking Sheets Help You Sleep Better
Let’s face it, if you've got 1 or 2 dogs that sleep in bed with you, its a bit crowded and can cause everyone to overheat! When rolling over seems to be a luxury because you have little dogs or cats pinning you down on both sides, you can all become hot and uncomfortable. Bamboo sheets come to the rescue as they’re naturally 3-times more moisture-wicking than cotton sheets. An added bonus is that even if you do perspire, the fabric wicks the moisture and then evaporates it quickly so you all sleep dry and cool.
How Often Do I Need to Wash My Sheets?
It’s a lot of work to strip a bed, launder all the bedding, then place it all back on the bed. But when pets sleep in your bed you may feel the need to launder frequently. As mentioned earlier, Bamboo Sheets and Duvet Covers don’t smell like they need laundering as quickly as cotton sheets because they’re resistant to odor-causing bacteria. When you choose bamboo bedding you can go a little longer between washings, that’s a huge bonus for busy people!
Laundry Tips for Bamboo Sheets

We recommend a gentle eco-friendly liquid detergent for bamboo sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases. Do not use fabric softeners or dryer sheets, these are both irritants to your airway and to skin, and builds up on the sheets. Bamboo is a durable fabric but its also a luxury fabric that you want to last a long time. Proper care of your bedding will extend the life of your silky soft sheets, so you and your pet have years of comfortable sleep. Wash the bedding when you first receive it, as bamboo sheets are oversized to allow for the first-time shrinkage that will occur. You can set the temperature to medium for both the laundry and the dryer, fluff them when they are dry and place directly back on the bed.
If pet hair has accumulated and you need to remove that before laundering, we offer a few tips:
1. Dryer Method (No Heat):
Toss your sheets in the dryer for 10 minutes on an air-only or no-heat setting with a dryer sheet or wool dryer balls. This loosens and collects pet hair in the lint trap before washing.
2. Lint Roller or Pet Hair Remover Brush:
Use a large lint roller or a rubber pet hair remover brush to sweep over the sheets. Rubber materials generate static that lifts hair more effectively than standard brushes.
3. Damp Rubber Gloves:
Put on slightly damp rubber gloves such as dishwashing gloves, and run your hands over the fabric. The hair will cling to the gloves, and you can rinse it off as needed.
If soil does seem to be building up and you really need a thorough cleaning, you can fill a sink with hot water, 1/2 cup Borax, 1/2 cup baking soda and 1/2 cup liquid laundry detergent. Let them soak for at least 4 hours, or overnight, then rinse well and launder. This should remove any built-up stains or body oils.

Bamboo Bedding vs Other Pet Bedding

You’ll often find pet bedding or pet bed covers made of cotton, microfiber or synthetic fabrics. These fabrics do not have the same qualities as bamboo textiles. If you’re using any of those named fabrics, your pet is not sleeping on eco-friendly, breathable, cooling, hypoallergenic bedding. Pets can have some of the same skin conditions people do, such as eczema, rashes or irritations from outdoor toxins. Allowing them to rest well on fabric that is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 tested to be safe for babies means they will also be treated to the most skin-friendly bedding.
