Recommended Laundry Products
How do I wash bamboo sheets? Any recommended laundry products?
A : Rayon from Bamboo is best cared for by washing in cold or warm water with an eco-friendly liquid detergent, and drying on low to medium heat. The recommended laundry products we prefer for bamboo linens are Ecos, Seventh Generation, Meyer’s Clean Day, and Aspen Clean.
Proper washing will extend their life; you can expect to get 5-6 years from your linens with proper laundering. Using hot water and high heat can cause any linens to pill, which are the uncomfortable bumps you’ll see on some sweaters. Also, bamboo has natural bacteria-resistance so if you’re used to using bleach to kill any bacteria, there’s no need to do so with bamboo. A great benefit for your health and the environment! Do oil stains come out of bamboo sheets?
A : Oil or lotion stains can be removed, try any of the following, or view our video:
Prewash the sheets with ¼ cup Dawn dish washing liquid and then launder as usual, as Dawn is a natural degreaser.
Spray Oxy Clean or a chlorine-free stain remover directly onto the stain and then launder as usual.
a mixture of 1-part white vinegar to 4-parts water, sprayed or poured onto the stain; this should remove the stains during laundering.

100% Bamboo Bedding
- Easy Instructions: Wash on warm with eco-friendly liquid detergent, dry on medium. Iron if desired.
- VERY IMPORTANT: We’ve oversized the 100% Bamboo Bedding to allow for the first-time shrinkage that occurs, wash them FIRST to allow for the best fit.
- For More Details:
- Zip the Duvet, Euro Sham or Lumbar Pillow Cover CLOSED prior to laundering. This maintains the integrity of the zipper. You don’t need to do this with the Duvets with buttons. An extra button is sewn into the duvet in case one is lost.
- Wash the linens in warm water with a gentle eco-friendly liquid detergent, and dry with medium heat. We recommend removing immediately to reduce wrinkling. WEIRD fact: 100% Bamboo Bedding comes out of the washer feeling stiff and canvas-like! This is normal so please don’t worry that you’ve harmed your linens.
- The detergents we recommend are Ecos, Seventh Generation, Meyer’s Clean Act and Aspen Clean. But any gentle eco-friendly liquid detergent that you currently own should be fine. We don’t recommend any detergent that says ‘Tough on Stains’ or removes grass or grease stains. Those can be too harsh on 100% Bamboo Bedding and reduce their lifespan.
- For best results, wash the sheets separately from other items, especially towels. Towels produce a lot of lint which can stick to sheets and create friction, which could cause pilling. We’ve made our linens with a tight twill weave, which makes for a beautiful sheen but also guarantees against pilling.
- We recommend giving your pillowcases a hard shake to smooth out the hem before placing in the dryer. And removing the sheets from the dryer when done will help reduce wrinkling. We don’t coat our linens with formaldehyde, which is what the cotton industry does to make the linens wrinkle-resistant. We’ve chosen not to use a toxic chemical as we feel that sleepers would prefer a little wrinkle vs sleeping on toxic chemicals. Each time you launder, they’ll come out smooth again, as well as shrink to fit again. Bamboo wants to ‘grow’ while its on your bed!
- Avoid liquid chlorine bleach, fabric softener, dryer sheets, and washer or dryer balls. Harsh detergents can do damage to fine linens and particularly high-quality sheets. Bleach can weaken the 100% Bamboo Bedding fibers, reducing the life of your sheets, and fabric softener and dryer sheets can leave a film on the fabric, reducing the moisture-wicking properties. Dryer sheets can cause discoloration, and washer and dryer balls can cause pilling.
- For stubborn stains, spray chlorine-free stain remover or a mixture of 1 tablespoon of vinegar with 4 tablespoons of water directly on it, then launder as usual.
- Stains from natural body oils or body lotions can be removed by pre-soaking your sheets in the washing machine with ¼ cup Dawn dish washing liquid. Or you can gently rub a few drops of Dawn and water into the stain, then launder as usual. Dawn is a natural de-greaser and works wonders on stains! read more
- Ironing does not harm bamboo bed sheets, duvets or coverlets. You may even use high heat and steam, they will iron beautifully!
Additional Tips
- If you mix colors when washing, add a Shout Color Catcher to your laundry load to keep your colors true.
- Don’t worry that using cool water won’t get your linens clean, as rayon from bamboo naturally resists bacteria, so bacteria does not thrive on bamboo. Occasionally if you want to launder in hot water to remove any potential build-up, or to force the linens to shrink a bit, this will not harm them.
- It’s normal that the linens feel a bit stiff out of the washer, almost like a light-weight canvas, but once dried; they’re back to a puffy cloud of softness! Extra lint in the dryer the first couple of washes is normal, as some short fibers may release which makes them even softer.
- When hang drying, you may toss the linens in the dryer for 5 minutes to soften any stiffness.
- If you couldn’t take the linens out of the drier immediately, fluff them for ten more minutes in the dryer on high heat and remove promptly, this will remove wrinkles.
- Weirdest Tip! To remove dried blood from the linens, get the person who bled to put their own saliva on the stain, let it sit for 10 minutes, then always rinse in cold water before laundering. The specific acid in your own saliva will break down the blood, interesting, right!?

Luxury Bamboo Towels
- Before using, wash in warm water with a gentle liquid detergent, with no fabric softener. Softeners and dryer sheets can build up on luxury bamboo towels. This can cause weakening of the fibers and decrease absorbency. Then tumble dry on medium. The towels will actually get even more absorbent after 2-3 washings, as they shed some of the looser fibers and the too-silky feeling.
- If you use chlorine-free bleach, do not pour it directly onto your towels. Instead, fill the washer with water and add the chlorine-free bleach to dilute it prior to laundering. Or you can pre-soak the linens for half an hour before starting the machine.
Additional Tips
- Give the towels a good shake when removing them from the washer, this fluffs the terry loops. It aids in the absorbency of your towels. Do not iron your towels as that decreases the absorbency of all towels.
- Detergents that we recommend are Ecos, Seventh Generation, Meyer’s Clean Day, and Aspen Clean. But any gentle liquid detergent that you prefer is likely going to work great. We don’t recommend any form of detergent that says ‘Tough on Stains’ or removes grass or grease stains. These generally means its a fairly harsh detergent and will not be very gentle.
- You will notice that your luxury bamboo towels will not acquire a mildew scent, as they naturally resist bacteria, unlike cotton towels.
- Bamboo towels can be reused for days, as they resist odor and bacteria, so you can hang dry and reuse before laundering.
- The Hooded Baby Towel and Washcloths are laundered the same as other towels noted above. The Hooded Towel can be reused for days before laundering, as bamboo is resistant to odor and mildew, which saves you laundering time!

Baby Bedding & Swaddles
- Wash the bamboo baby bedding & swaddles in cool to warm water with a gentle eco-friendly liquid detergent, and dry with medium heat. We recommend removing immediately to reduce wrinkling. WEIRD fact: Bamboo crib sheets come out of the washer feeling stiff and canvas-like. This is normal so please don’t worry that you’ve harmed the linens.
- We recommend washing the crib sheets and swaddles separately from towels. Towels can add friction and potentially cause pilling. The crib sheet has a tight twill weave which has a beautiful sheen, but should also guarantee against pilling.
- Avoid liquid chlorine bleach, fabric softener, dryer sheets, and washer or dryer balls. Harsh detergents can do damage to fine linens and particularly to baby bedding & swaddles. Pillow Inserts
How do I wash the pillows?
A: We recommend washing in cold water on a delicate cycle, then dry on low. You can put a tennis ball or laundry ball in the dryer to help restore fluffiness.
How do I get a stain out of the pillow?
A: You can use a non-bleach spot cleaner or spray. First wet the stain with water, spray or spot the cleaner, let sit/soak for 10 minutes then launder. If the spot has not been completely removed during the wash cycle, repeat with spray or spot cleaner, launder again before drying. If you dry before the spot is completely removed, it may set.
