Bamboo Pillowcases

Bamboo pillowcases are gentle to skin and hair. The smooth round fibers help limit creases on your face and won’t tug on fragile hair. As bamboo is a naturally cooling fabric, you also won’t toss and turn nor need to flip your pillow over to find a cool spot. Bamboo pillow covers will help you get your best sleep.

Bamboo Pillowcases FAQs

Can I buy extra pillowcases?

Yes, a set comes with 2 pillowcases, but if you need additional sets please visit our Pillowcase page.

How do I wash bamboo pillowcases?

Viscose from Bamboo is best cared for by washing in warm water with an eco-friendly liquid detergent, and drying on medium heat. Proper washing will extend their life; you can expect to get 5-6 years from your linens with proper laundering.  Using hot water and high heat can cause any linens to pill, which are the uncomfortable bumps you’ll see on some sweaters. Also, bamboo has natural bacteria-resistance so if you’re used to using bleach to kill any bacteria, there is no need to do so with bamboo. A great benefit for your health and the environment!

Can I iron bamboo pillowcases?

Yes, you can iron them and even use high heat and steam, it will not hurt them. But another trick is that if you dry them on high for the last 10 minutes of the cycle (if you forgot to take them out immediately) they will come out smoother.

Are bamboo pillowcase gentle on hair?

Yes, the bamboo fibers are spun so fine and round that they do not tug or pull at hair or skin while sleeping. You'll love the soft feel of the pillowcases against your face!

Are bamboo pillowcases slippery?

No, our linens get softer and cozier when you wash them, not like the old 70’s satin where your pillow slipped off onto the floor!! They will simply feel luxuriously soft against your skin, and gentle to your hair.

What is the closure type?

We use an envelope enclosure on our pillowcases, so that your pillow does not escape while sleeping!

Do bamboo pillowcases wrinkle?

They will get a soft wrinkle where your head lies, but won't get a hard crease like cotton pillowcases do. Each time you launder they will come out smooth again. We don't coat our linens with formaldehyde, what the cotton industry does to make them wrinkle-resistant, as we want to offer the most eco-conscious product we can so that you sleep healthier.

Do bamboo pillowcases shrink?

Bamboo fabrics shrink the first time you wash them, but we’ve oversized the linens to allow for that shrinkage. Bamboo does 'grow' between washes, but once laundered it shrinks back to its normal shape.

What thread count are bamboo pillowcases?

BedVoyage bamboo linens have a thread count of 300. After feeling them you'll think they are 1,000 thread count, that is how great bamboo fabrics feel against your skin!

Will oil stains come out of bamboo pillowcases?

Yes, we recommend pre-treating the stains before laundering, using either a few drops of Dawn dish washing liquid, its a natural degreaser. Or spray a chlorine-free stain remover directly onto the stain and then launder as usual.

How long will bamboo pillowcases last?

If you use only one set, when cared for properly, our linens typically last for 5-6 years. If you rotate between several sets of linens, they will last about 7 years or more.

Do the colors fade?

No, our reactives dyes will keep the colors deep and true. For best care; we don’t recommend bleach, and we do recommend laundering lights with lights, and dark with darks to keep colors from bleeding.

Will pet hair come out of bamboo pillowcases?

Yes, when you launder the fur will come off, or you can use a lint roller between laundry days. Remember bamboo has some antibacterial properties so your linens won’t accumulate the same amount of smell that cotton might, and rayon is anti-static so it won’t cling to pet fur and other lint like cotton will. As well, our twill weave means they are less likely to snag with pet claws than plain, satin weave sheets or knit sheets.
