Bamboo Towels FAQs

How do you wash bamboo towels?

Viscose from Bamboo linens are best cared for by washing in warm water with an eco-friendly liquid detergent, and drying on medium heat. Proper washing will extend their life; you can expect to get 5-6 years from your linens with proper laundering. Also, bamboo has natural bacteria, odor and mildew resistance so if you’re used to using bleach to kill any bacteria, there is no need to do so with bamboo. A great benefit for your health and the environment!

What detergent do you recommend for washing bamboo towels?

A mild liquid detergent like Ecos, Mrs. Myers, Woolite, Seventh Generation, ECover, or Kirkland Ultra Clean. We do not recommend bleach, fabric softeners, washer balls or dryer sheets/balls. We’ve noticed that harsher detergents can break down the fibers faster, shortening the lifespan of the towels.

Will bamboo towels get snagged?

They don't easily snag, unless you wash them with things that have hooks or velcro. If you do get a snag, simply cut the snag with sharp scissors and it should not continue to run.

Will bamboo towels get a mildew smell?

They should never get a mildew smell as bamboo fibers are naturally resistant to mildew, odors and bacteria. You can even accidentally leave a load of bamboo towels in the washer all day and not have to rerun them like you would with cotton towels.

Can I hang bamboo towels to dry?

Yes, and we have a handy hanging tag on all items so that you can either hang on a hook, toss over a rod, or hang from a towel ring. They will generally dry overnight, ready for use the next day.

How long can I reuse a bamboo towel before washing?

Due to its natural ability to resist odors; you can reuse the towel for 3-7 days before laundering. This is a nice laundry time-saver!

How do you get a stain out of bamboo towels?

Most stains can be removed by prewashing the towels with ¼ cup Dawn dish washing liquid and then launder as usual, as Dawn is a natural degreaser. Use a non-bleach spot remover directly onto the stain then launder. If blood stain, the person who bled can add saliva to the spot and their own natural acids will break down the stain, rinse in cold water, then launder.
