How to Manage Being Away From Home

Going off to college often causes a little anxiety, to lessen the homesick feelings, there are many things that you can do. Some are to take a framed photo of your family and pets, take your favorite coffee or tea mug, if you had a special lamp, stuffed animal, clock radio, pillow; bring it with. Make a standing appointment to call your grandma, your best friend, or a parent and stick with it, you’ll make their day! Do FaceTime or Skype when you want to see your loved ones in ‘person’ and send texts to your parents periodically to let them know you are thinking of them and doing well. You’ll be relieving some of their anxiety too! If you had traditions at home, try to recreate them at college, then you can chat after about how you celebrated the event.
